Israeli Soldier Killed in Hezbollah Drone Attack Amid Border Escalation
On May 24, 2026, an Israeli soldier was killed in a Hezbollah drone strike in northern Israel. The attack occurred amid a significant escalation in cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, which have continued despite diplomatic efforts to contain the conflict. The Israel Defense Forces reported that the drone successfully evaded interception before impacting its target. This incident follows a series of reciprocal airstrikes on southern Lebanese towns, including Nabatieh and Srifa, earlier in the weekend.
