Jalisco New Generation Cartel Leader "El Mencho" Killed in Joint Raid

Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (JNGC), was killed on May 19, 2026, during a high-stakes raid by Mexican security forces assisted by U.S. military intelligence. The operation in western Mexico triggered immediate retaliatory violence by cartel members, including arson attacks on public buildings and the establishment of armed roadblocks in major urban centers. Analysts warn the death of the kingpin may lead to a violent power struggle within the organization.
