Assassination of Eastern Libyan Military Intelligence Chief in Benghazi
Major General Fawzi al-Mansouri, head of the military intelligence department for Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army (LNA), was killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Benghazi. The device detonated under his vehicle as he was departing his residence in the Hawari district on Monday evening. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which underscores persistent security vulnerabilities within the LNA’s administrative stronghold despite the 2020 ceasefire.
