Renewed Gang Violence Surges in Cite Soleil
A new wave of intense clashes between rival armed gangs in Port-au-Prince's Cite Soleil and Plaine Cul-de-Sac neighborhoods forced around 30,000 people to flee their homes. Displaced families sought refuge in makeshift shelters and churches, such as the Shalom Church in Delmas 33, arriving with almost no belongings, according to Al Jazeera and the World Food Programme.
