CENTCOM Intensifies Strait of Hormuz Blockade, Redirects 61 Vessels
U.S. Central Command announced on May 10, 2026, that it has intensified its naval blockade of Iran as part of Operation Economic Fury. U.S. forces redirected 61 commercial vessels and disabled four others attempting to breach the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. More than 20 American warships, including the USS George H.W. Bush, are currently enforcing the measures aimed at choking off Iranian oil exports and funding for regional proxies following the escalation of hostilities in February.
