US Forces Maintain Alert in Strait of Hormuz as Qatari LNG Tanker Makes High-Stakes Transit
A Qatari liquefied natural gas tanker transited the Strait of Hormuz on May 10, 2026, marking a significant confidence-building measure amidst an ongoing naval blockade. US Central Command forces remained on high alert following sporadic clashes with Iranian vessels and a missile engagement in the UAE. While the strait remains largely blocked to non-Iranian shipping, the successful passage of the mediated vessel offers a slim diplomatic opening as Washington awaits Tehran's response to formal peace proposals.
