IDF Issues Blanket Evacuation Orders for South Lebanon Villages
On April 2, 2026, the Israeli Defense Forces issued sweeping evacuation orders directing residents of multiple towns in southern Lebanon to move north of the Litani River. These orders, described by legal analysts as a 'security zone' expansion, triggered the immediate displacement of an estimated 45,000 people from border communities. This brings the cumulative displacement in Lebanon to over one million since the conflict's March escalation began.
