Russian Breakthrough in Pokrovsk Direction Displaces 12,000
Following a sustained bombardment, Russian forces breached Ukrainian defensive lines near Ocheretyne on March 20, 2026. This tactical advance prompted the mandatory evacuation of approximately 12,000 civilians from frontline villages in the Pokrovsk district. State Emergency Services of Ukraine coordinated the movement using armored buses and rail transport to safer regions in western Ukraine. The displacement was driven by the proximity of high-intensity urban combat and the loss of utility infrastructure. Source: Kyiv Independent.
