Intense fighting reported in Yemen's Taiz province
Forces from Yemen's internationally recognized government reported an intensified campaign against the Iran-aligned Houthi movement, conducting 20 airstrikes in Taiz province on October 2, 2026. The strikes targeted personnel, vehicles, and military equipment. Separately, government military sources noted that 55 anti-government fighters were killed and 26 government troops died in the past 24 hours of fighting across several fronts. The Houthis continue to challenge government control over highlands surrounding the city of Taiz.
