Heavy fighting in Baidoa between federal troops and regional forces
Intense clashes erupted in Baidoa on September 2-3, 2026, as forces loyal to former South West State President Abdiaziz Laftagareen launched an assault on federal government positions. The fighting involved heavy weaponry and explosions, resulting in at least 4 civilian deaths and 98 injuries.
