Saudi oil tanker Sidr attacked in Hormuz; two sailors killed
Saudi Arabian shipping company Bahri confirmed on September 2, 2026, that two Filipino seafarers were killed during a projectile attack on the crude oil tanker Sidr. The vessel was targeted by unknown projectiles on August 31 as it prepared to traverse the Strait of Hormuz. A fire broke out on board but was contained by the crew. The ship is currently grounded off the coast of Oman, and the remaining 14 Filipino crew members are awaiting repatriation.
