EU Members Commit to Training Mission to Disarm Hezbollah in Lebanon
Over ten European Union member states have agreed to contribute personnel to a new mission designed to train and strengthen the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF). EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas stated the objective is to enable the LAF to take over security duties and begin the dismantlement of Hezbollah infrastructure in southern "pilot zones." The mission is scheduled to begin deployment in late 2026, coinciding with the planned drawdown of UNIFIL forces.
