Clashes in Geissan Displace Thousands
Recent armed clashes between rival factions in and around the town of Geissan in Sudan's Blue Nile state have triggered a new wave of civilian flight. According to the report published on August 19, 2026, the violence displaced approximately 7,800 people. Many of these newly displaced individuals were forced to cross the international border into neighboring Ethiopia to seek safety from the escalating conflict.
