Overcrowding and Shortages Reach Critical Levels in Sudan's El Obeid
Humanitarian conditions in the Sudanese city of El Obeid deteriorated sharply on August 30 as thousands of displaced civilians flee fighting between the SAF and RSF. The United Nations reports that over 15,000 families have arrived since mid-July, joining hundreds of thousands of previously displaced people. Satellite data reveals 800 new tents appeared in surrounding camps within the last three weeks. Humanitarian volunteers report severe shortages of food and medical supplies as the city becomes "shockingly overcrowded."
