CENTCOM Enforces Naval Blockade Against Iran in Strait of Hormuz
U.S. Central Command announced on August 29 that its forces have redirected 82 commercial vessels as part of an ongoing naval blockade against Iran. Since the blockade was reimposed on July 14, U.S. forces have disabled three vessels and boarded two others to ensure compliance. Admiral Brad Cooper confirmed that while international shipping lanes have been cleared of Iranian-placed sea mines, transit remains significantly below pre-war levels as maritime tensions persist in the region.
