Glacial collapse triggers catastrophic flooding on Nepal-China border
A magnitude 5.2 seismic event caused by a massive glacial collapse in the Himalayas has resulted in flash floods along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers. At least 160 people have been confirmed dead in Nepal and three in Tibet, with over 600 people, including nearly 300 foreign tourists, reported missing. The floodwaters rose by nine meters in just 30 minutes, destroying police stations, bridges, and hydropower facilities in the Timure and Syaprubesi areas.
