Clashes near Geissan Displace 7,800 People into Ethiopia
Continued ground clashes in and near Geissan in Sudan's Blue Nile state displaced approximately 7,800 people around mid-August 2026. The UN IOM reported on August 19 that the conflict forced many of these newly displaced civilians to cross the border into neighboring Ethiopia to seek safety as hostilities between rival factions expanded into the territory.
