Nearly 18,000 Displaced in West Darfur Amid Intensifying Fighting
In the first half of August 2026, intensifying fighting and ground clashes between the SAF and RSF in Sudan's West Darfur region displaced nearly 18,000 individuals. According to an August 19 update from the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM), the continued violence is compounding the massive humanitarian emergency and severely disrupting civilian life in the region.
