Alliance of Sahel States inaugurates first joint parliament in Niamey

The Alliance of Sahel States (AES), comprising Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, opened its first joint parliament session in Niamey. Forty-five representatives are meeting to coordinate legislative frameworks and strengthen the confederation’s institutional pillars, following the earlier creation of a joint military force and development bank. The session marks a significant step in the AES's effort to establish a regional order independent of ECOWAS, amid ongoing security challenges from regional insurgent groups.
