UN Security Council Briefed on Mass Displacement and Drone Warfare in Sudan
UN officials informed the Security Council on Monday that escalating fighting between the SAF and RSF has displaced 13 million people, with over 1,400 civilians killed by drone strikes in the first half of 2026. The briefing highlighted critical conditions in El Obeid, where drone attacks have targeted markets and water infrastructure. Compounding the violence, destructive seasonal flooding and a cholera outbreak in West Kordofan have pushed the humanitarian emergency to a breaking point.
