Macawisley fighters kill senior Al-Shabaab commander in Middle Shabelle
Local Macawisley militia fighters successfully infiltrated a militant-held area in the Tawakal district and killed senior Al-Shabaab commander Abdullahi Mahmud Odowaa (Faadhuud). Odowaa had been a member of the group since 2009 and was responsible for large-scale extortion operations and coordinating attacks in the Middle Shabelle region. The killing is part of an intensifying pattern of community-led resistance supporting the Somali National Army's efforts to dismantle insurgent logistical pathways in central Somalia.
