Uganda and Burundi Discuss Gaza Troop Deployment in Talks with Israel
Senior military officials from Uganda and Burundi visited Israel to discuss contributing ground troops to an international security force in the Gaza Strip. The proposed deployment is part of the "Board of Peace" framework established under U.S. mediation to stabilize a tenuous ceasefire in place since October 2025. While the Ugandan parliament has already approved the contribution, Burundi is finalizing technical details. The force is intended to oversee Hamas's disarmament and Israeli withdrawal.
