The impeachment trial of Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte resumed on August 24 following a two-day suspension due to monsoon flooding. The House prosecution panel presented former special disbursing officer Gina Acosta, who testified regarding the alleged irregular liquidation of 500 million pesos in confidential funds. Acosta admitted to releasing 125 million pesos to unbonded officers, supporting Article 1 of the impeachment case which accuses the Vice President of systematic misappropriation and corruption.
