India dismantles ISI-backed Shahzad Bhatti terror network in 14-state operation
Indian Home Minister Amit Shah announced on August 18, 2026, the successful dismantling of the "Shahzad Bhatti Network," an ISI-backed syndicate allegedly planning subversive attacks to coincide with India’s 80th Independence Day. Coordinated raids across 14 states resulted in 200 arrests and 253 detentions. Seized materials included IEDs and grenades with Pakistan Ordnance Factory markings. Pakistan’s Foreign Office rubbished the allegations as "baseless assertions" and accused India of state-sponsored terrorism to distract from domestic issues.
