Ukraine launches massive 600-drone strike targeting Moscow and industrial sites
Ukrainian forces executed one of the largest aerial operations of the war, launching over 600 drones at Moscow and surrounding regions on August 18, 2026. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed at least 197 drones were intercepted over the Moscow Oblast. Strikes reportedly damaged a major Wildberries warehouse and triggered fires at an aluminum plant. Concurrently, a Ukrainian missile strike in Russia's Belgorod region killed six civilians, as Kyiv increasingly utilizes domestic and British-supplied long-range drones for deep-strike missions.
