Ten Nigerien Soldiers Killed in Coordinated Jihadist Border Attacks
Suspected Al-Qaeda or Islamic State-linked militants launched simultaneous attacks on military positions in Bouloundjounga and Samira, located in the Gotheye department near the border with Burkina Faso. The Nigerien Defense Ministry confirmed that 10 soldiers were killed and 15 others wounded in the engagement. Security forces reportedly neutralized 41 attackers in the counter-operation. This violence occurs amid the consolidation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), which has expanded its joint military force to 15,000 personnel.
