Magnitude 7.7 earthquake strikes Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara
A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Maumere, Indonesia, early Saturday morning. The tremor caused the collapse of numerous residential and public buildings, resulting in at least 38 confirmed deaths and over a dozen injuries. A tsunami warning was briefly issued but later rescinded after monitoring showed no significant sea-level changes. Emergency teams are currently conducting search and rescue operations to clear debris and locate survivors in damaged structures.
