NATO Eurofighters intercept and shoot down drone over Latvia
Italian Eurofighter jets, operating under NATO's Baltic Air Policing mission, shot down a drone that entered Latvian airspace on August 14. Latvian military officials stated the drone's intrusion was a direct result of Russian electromagnetic warfare (EW) activity in the region, which has frequently caused flight path deviations. Residents in five eastern Latvian municipalities were warned to take shelter during the incident. This follows a similar crash in Romania earlier the same day involving a low-flying drone near the border.
