China-Indonesia Joint Naval Exercise Commences East of Taiwan
A bilateral naval exercise between China and Indonesia has begun in the waters east of Taiwan, featuring the PLAN Type 054A frigate Honghe and the Indonesian frigate KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai. Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) condemned the maneuvers as "dangerous behavior" that undermines the regional status quo. Analysts suggest the choice of location is a strategic signal by Beijing to demonstrate maritime jurisdiction in contested corridors that provide Taiwan's principal maritime depth.
