DRC: Armed group attacks Banana École village in Mambasa
On August 7, 2026, an unidentified non-state armed group attacked the village of Banana École in the Mambasa Territory of Ituri province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Assailants killed at least 13 civilians, abducted several others, and set residential houses on fire. The destruction of homes forced surviving residents to flee the village. Following IDMC methodology for localized village attacks involving arson, an estimated 200 civilians were newly displaced by this specific incident, according to OCHA reports.
