OAS High-Level Mission to Haiti Announced Amid Security Crisis
The Organization of American States (OAS) announced that Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin will lead a high-level delegation to Haiti from August 16 to 19. The mission aims to coordinate international support for the Haitian-led effort to restore stability and prepare for presidential and legislative elections scheduled for December 13, 2026. This comes as armed gangs continue to control approximately 80-90% of Port-au-Prince and humanitarian agencies warn of acute food insecurity affecting 5.8 million people.
