US Training Taiwan Coast Guard as China Condemns Han Kuang Drills
The United States Coast Guard has commenced a specialized 10-day training mission for Taiwanese maritime forces focusing on small-craft operations and team coordination to counter Chinese "gray-zone" tactics. In response, Beijing’s Defense Ministry condemned Taiwan’s ongoing Han Kuang military exercises as a "wasteful charade" intended to stoke war panic. On August 14, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense tracked nine Chinese military aircraft and 12 naval vessels operating near the median line of the Taiwan Strait.
