Taiwan throttles mobile internet in Taipei during Han Kuang air raid drills
As part of the final phase of the annual Han Kuang military exercises, the Taiwanese government deliberately slowed mobile internet speeds to 256 Kbps across Taipei and six other cities. The drill, supervised by President Lai Ching-te, aimed to simulate wartime communication constraints and civil defense responses to a potential Chinese invasion. This first-of-its-kind "throttling" exercise occurred alongside city-wide air raid sirens and underground emergency medical center inspections.
