NISA Operation Kills Seven Al-Shabaab Members in Tawakal Strike
Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), supported by international partners, conducted a precision operation in the Tawakal area of the Lower Shabelle region on August 11. The strike targeted a facility where senior Al-Shabaab commanders were holding a private meeting to coordinate local extortion efforts. NISA confirmed the deaths of seven militants and the wounding of several commanders, identifying local officials Yunis Macallim Abukar and Abu Haji Farey among those present at the site.
