Severe Flooding Displaces Tens of Thousands in Myanmar's Sagaing Region
Intense monsoon rainfall has caused the Mu River to breach its banks, flooding 11 townships in Myanmar's Sagaing Region, including Ye-U and Shwebo. Local reports on August 9 indicate that tens of thousands of residents, including families already residing in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps due to the civil war, have been forced to flee rising waters. Emergency data relief is being provided by MPT to affected communities as the humanitarian situation deteriorates.
