Clashes along the East Guji-East Sidama border
Between July 26 and 29, 2026, intense clashes occurred along the border between the East Guji Zone in the Oromia region and the East Sidama Zone in the Sidama region of Ethiopia. The violence left around 22 people dead and forced thousands of civilians to flee their homes to escape the inter-regional fighting. The estimated number of people newly displaced by this localized conflict is 2,000.
