Deadly mass migrant crossing attempt at Ceuta enclave leaves 72 deceased

A major migration crisis unfolded at the border between Morocco and the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta as approximately 40,000 people attempted a mass crossing. Spanish public broadcaster RTVE reported that the death toll has risen to 72 individuals during the incident. While Moroccan authorities reported a lower toll of 11 deaths, Spanish officials have declared the situation a major humanitarian crisis and deployed armored patrols to secure the perimeter.
