Ukrainian Drone Strikes Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant Gallery; Facility Loses Off-Site Power
A Ukrainian drone strike hit a gallery connecting reactor units at the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Rosatom head Alexey Likhachev stated the drone landed meters from Unit 3, but failed to explode. The plant subsequently lost off-site power for two hours, marking the 23rd such failure during the conflict. The facility is currently operating on a single 330-kilovolt transmission line as concerns mount over the safety of nearby spent nuclear fuel storage sites and the nearby city of Enerhodar.
