U.S. Intelligence Attributes Coordinated Minnesota Water System Cyberattack to Iran
U.S. intelligence agencies and the FBI have concluded that Iran-backed hackers, specifically the 'CyberAv3ngers' group affiliated with the IRGC, were likely responsible for a coordinated cyberattack on more than 30 municipal water systems in Minnesota. The attack, which occurred between July 26 and 27, compromised operational technology and forced utilities to switch to manual operations. The incident is linked to the escalating five-month-old military conflict between the United States and Iran.
