U.S. and Saudi Forces Conduct Heavy Retaliatory Strikes Against Iranian Targets
U.S. Central Command, in coordination with Saudi forces, launched a wave of airstrikes against Iranian territory and paramilitary bases in Iraq late July 30. The operation followed a surprise Iranian ballistic missile attack on a U.S. base in Jordan. Strikes in Iraq killed at least 20 members of the Popular Mobilization Forces. Simultaneously, a drone strike hit a U.S.-owned gas storage tanker at Egypt's Damietta port, marking the first direct attack on Egyptian soil since the regional conflict escalated.
