UN Gang Suppression Force Enters Full Operational Phase in Haiti
The Special Representative of the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), Jack Christofides, announced that the mission has fully transitioned into its operational phase as of July 28, 2026. The force has established its headquarters and first forward operating base in Port-au-Prince to dismantle gang infrastructure. This marks a shift from the previous Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission. The GSF is currently patrolling strategic areas to combat the Viv Ansanm and Gran Grif gangs that control much of the capital.
