U.S. and Iran Observe Third Night of Strike Pause for Diplomacy
The United States and Iran maintained a pause in direct military strikes for a third consecutive night on July 26-27. Senior U.S. administration officials indicated that the lull is intended to provide 'space' for diplomatic negotiations through mediators in Oman and Qatar. While the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports remains active and tensions remain high, both sides have refrained from escalating the conflict that has seen 18 U.S. troops killed since February.
