Afghanistan Freedom Front Attacks Taliban Positions in Badakhshan
The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) launched a large-scale offensive against Taliban military bases in the Zebak district of Badakhshan on July 23, 2026. The AFF claimed to have killed 21 Taliban fighters, including several commanders, and wounded 37 others while seizing highland positions near the border. The Taliban's 219th Omar-e-Salis Division confirmed the clashes but claimed to have repelled the attack, reporting five attackers killed. Fighting reportedly continued through July 24 in the mountainous border region.
