United States Navy reimposes naval blockade on Iranian ports
Following the collapse of a brief ceasefire, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the U.S. Navy to reimpose a naval blockade on all vessels transiting to or from Iranian ports, effective 20:00 GMT on July 14, 2026. The blockade is intended to deny Iran the ability to export oil and gas and to secure the Strait of Hormuz following a series of Iranian attacks on commercial shipping and tankers.
