Three Commercial Tankers Attacked by Iran in Strait of Hormuz
Within a 24-hour window ending July 7, 2026, three commercial vessels were struck by projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz. The affected ships include the Qatari-flagged LNG tanker M/T Al Rekayyat, the Saudi-flagged M/T Wedyan, and the Liberian-flagged M/T Cyprus Prosperity. UKMTO reported that at least one vessel was struck by an uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV). Qatar and Saudi Arabia have denounced the attacks as unacceptable Iranian aggression, which directly triggered the subsequent U.S. retaliatory strikes on Iranian coastal facilities.
