IRGC missiles strike Qatari LNG tanker Al Rekayyat in Strait of Hormuz
Iran's Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) fired at least two missiles at commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz on the night of July 6, 2026. The Al Rekayyat, a Qatari-owned liquefied natural gas tanker, was struck on its port side, sparking a fire in the engine room. Despite Qatar's role as a mediator in regional peace talks, the IRGC has begun enforcing a 'navigation fee' on vessels. The attack triggered a rise in Brent crude prices to $73.
