Myanmar kamikaze drone crashes in Thailand amid renewed border fighting
On July 5, 2026, fighting resumed between Myanmar's military junta and resistance forces near Minletpan Village in Myawaddy Township. During the clashes, a kamikaze drone from the Myanmar side crossed the international border and crashed into a cornfield in the Phop Phra District of Tak Province, Thailand. No casualties were reported on the Thai side, but authorities sealed the area and increased border security. Concurrently, junta forces reportedly set fire to nearby villages in Myanmar, displacing over 150 local residents.
