U.S. Navy Calls Off Search for Missing Sailor in Arabian Sea
U.S. Central Command announced on July 5, 2026, that search and rescue efforts for a missing sailor assigned to the USS George H.W. Bush have been suspended. The sailor went missing on July 1 after an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter crashed in the Arabian Sea during a mission. Despite a 102-hour search covering 14,000 square miles involving multiple destroyers and P-8 Poseidon aircraft, the sailor remains missing and is presumed deceased. Three other crew members were rescued.
