Armed group clashes displace thousands in Haiti's Artibonite department
Renewed violence and clashes between rival armed gangs in the Artibonite department triggered a fresh wave of civilian flight in late June 2026. The localized conflict internally displaced more than 2,600 people, with over three-quarters of the fleeing civilians seeking refuge in the neighboring commune of Marchand Dessalines.
