OAS Adopts Resolution for Haiti Stabilization and Gang Suppression Force Support

The Organization of American States (OAS) unanimously adopted a resolution in Panama supporting a Haiti-led stabilization strategy. The plan emphasizes regional coordination to combat gang violence and strengthen the Haitian National Police through the multinational Gang Suppression Force (GSF). While CARICOM leaders expressed cautious optimism for long-delayed elections, they stressed that security remains the prerequisite. The GSF, which replaces the previous Kenyan-led mission, aims to neutralize powerful gang alliances like Viv Ansanm.
